Steven M. Long took third place (along with Dan) in the AD&D Open at GenCon in 1986. Since then he’s run a high fever in Prague, gotten blisters on his feet in Tokyo and almost drowned in the Caribbean. When not actively waiting for his superpowers to manifest, he likes to escape into the heads of others, or compulsively try to explain himself to the unwary. He’s written four novels, two of them worth pushing out of the nest, and currently makes his living as a writer and editor.
As far as reading goes, Steven will read anything engaging and transportive. Good writing matters, and whether it’s urban fantasy, fantasy, or sci-fi, he wants to read stories that he hasn’t read before, that he can’t predict (he has mad skillz with a crystal ball), and ideally that have interesting, challenging themes bubbling beneath the surface. He loves graphic novels, with the caveat that the most beautiful art work doesn’t make up for a shallow story.
He digs board games as well as PC games (especially ones with a strong story) and is currently playing Guild Wars 2.
