We are readers, writers, futurists, and fans: explorers of new worlds and alternate realities.
Take in our reviews of the worlds other people have dreamed up and laid out on the page; dig into our frontal lobes by sampling our work; watch us conjure thoughts, dreams, and frozen moments on our blog, and don’t hesitate to step onto the stage and work alchemy with us!

The Foes are:
Steven M. Long
Steven M. Long took third place (along with Dan) in the AD&D Open at GenCon in 1986. Since then he’s run a high fever in Prague, gotten blisters on his feet in Tokyo and almost drowned in the Caribbean. When not actively waiting for his superpowers to manifest, he likes to escape into the heads of others, or compulsively try to explain himself to the unwary. He’s written four novels, two of them worth pushing out of the nest, and currently makes his living as a writer and editor.
Dan Berger
Dan Berger’s interests in dinosaurs and astronomy were thrown for a loop at the age of six when his older brother read him The Hobbit. The mutagenic effects of heroic fantasy skewed Dan’s DNA, shaping him into a human genre vortex. Since 2004 he has served as the editor of World Watch One, a newsletter devoted to the 1984 film The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. With Foes of Reality Dan continues to expand his horizons and explore his love of all things genre.
Miranda Weingartner
Miranda Weingartner, aka the Hospitable Alien, was dropped onto Planet Earth a few months after the moon landing. Coincidence? She thinks not. In her quest to understand this planet and its inhabitants, she has explored five continents monitoring development projects and convening international scenarios workshops on global issues including nuclear non-proliferation, climate change adaptation and the weaponization of space.
